Research Phase

Moodboard

Background

For this project, my goal was to transform a 3d fashion to be usable on a gaming

platform such as Roblox. I started off by doing research on the theme that I wanted to do as well as the colors. By the end, I was able to narrow it down and understand what I was trying to make. The goal of whatever I made was to give off futuristic/cyberpunk.

Design

Process

Background

To build out the overall outfit, I started out by sketching out a very basic design of the fit. Once, I understood what I wanted the fit to be I hopped into CLO3D. CLO3D is a digital fashion platform that allows you to create clothing in a 3D environment. After prototyping the exact design I wanted to create it was not time to switch over to the Roblox platform and redraft the design to be compatible with the Roblox program.

Design

Process

Background

For this project, I joined a Slack community known as Product Classroom. The goal of this community was to give college students a platform to continue building out our product design skills. We had weekly meetings and were placed in small groups to keep one another accountable. During the semester I did this, we were all given an overarching prompt of defining new ways to connect the physical and digital world.

Background

The final step for this project was execution. After creating clothing compatible with the platform it became quite easy to quickly ideate more ideas. In the end, I was able to create a whole collection of different items.

Conclusion

Background

One of my main goals for myself was to convert a design I made to be compatible with another platform that allows you to create digital fashion. This time around I focused solely on the Roblox Platform, but in the future, I would want to expand to make the designs I made compatible with multiple platforms such as Sims 4, Decentraland, etc. The main takeaway that came from working on this project was how to quickly change my thinking when switching between programs. The way that clothes are made in these programs are completely different so being able to quickly understand a platform and how to design for it was crucial to creating a successful project.
